ok - i'm starting to worry & have to ask, why aren't Casablanca dresses supposed to be hemmed? I got mine @ a sample sale -and of course no one told me that and it's way too long on me and i've been waiting to shorten it as i'm still in the process of my "diet" & thought i'd get all the work done in one shot. it's an older style (1804) and the nicest part of the dress is actually the bottom portion....should i be really worried over here? eeeek

The style 1900 came out this year, only a couple of months ago, so you will have to get the dress new. The bridal shop here in New Orleans is one of the best in the area, and I am getting the dress 10% off the $800 price they offer, and I get free alterations. Tax and shipping make it come out to $800 total, and only $30 more for a french bustle.

Also, Casablanca dresses aren't supposed to be hemmed, that's why you HAVE to order it the correct length. The bottom edging on the dress cannot be hemmed. Fortunately, this size has that band around the midsection, so it can be hemmed at the waist.

Truly, you should go to the bridal salon and get measured for your hollow to hem wearing the shoes you will wear for the wedding. Otherwise, you could end up with a dress that may not be the right length and may not be fixable to the correct length.

The salon I'm ordering from came up with different measurements than Casablanca, so they called Casablanca, and the company will actually have them send the store's dress in and remeasure that dress and make my dress that length because the measurements are not matching up with the measurements on the size chart. You can't get that kind of service from an online store.

Also, I would suggest getting the champagne colored dress. If you get the dress the same color as the lace overlay, the lace does not look nearly as beautiful because you can't see the detailing. Also, all dress colors come with the champagne colored band around the waist, so you might as well go with the champagne color underneath the lace.

Also, if you still want to look at other colors for the dress, go to your local dress shop that sells Casablanca, and casablanca has several lace overlay dresses, so they may have one with the right color underneath for you to compare which color underlay to go with.

By the way, the lace only comes in one color on this and all their other dresses with the lace overlays.

Good luck, girls!

I'm looking for the same casablanca dress [1900]

as far as the BBP site goes
how do you know the difference in colors for the 1900 dress. I mean, they don't show other pictures of the ivory or any other colors of the dress. I want to make sure I get the one I want (i really don't know which one I want though) help

I just wanted to let you know that I too am ordering this dress, but from a local boutique. I live in San Antonio, TX and I've found it at three boutiques. All have said they'd match prices. One is offering it at $799.99, one at $813, and the other at $849. I checked BBP and theirs is $798. I would feel much more comfortable ordering from a local boutique if you can get them to give you a price like that. What are your local ones offering?

Oh and another thing, Casablanca dresses can be ordered custom sized (B, W, H) through BBP for an extra $70 and hemmed for $40. I chose to do that through the designer in hopes of not having to do much alterations later on...

I'm not sure if you're trying to find it at a cheaper price than your local stores, but I'm buying my Casablanca (1827) online from BBP. The dress costs $300-$500 less than my local boutiques and I've heard great things about them. I'm putting in my order tomorrow morning *yay* but I've spoken to them before and their customer service is superb. Here's the link for your dress: http://www.bestbridalprices.com/casablanca-wedding-dress-1900-p-18754.html
