Hi Ladies I'm getting married on May 17 2009. I bought my wedding dress from Priscilla of Boston and will get it professionally cleaned there immediately after the wedding. I decided to sell the dress rather than let it sit in the closet. It is just too gorgeous to let it go to waste.
The dress is by Melissa Sweet, the style is Dora, and I'm getting it in size 8, color Ivory. The dress is made out of a beautiful Swiss dotted silk organza--so romantic and whimsical. I don't know if anyone is a fan of Say Yes to the Dress on TLC---this is the very dress that is on the opening credits--there is a girl with long hair wearing the dress (it has a sash) and she holds the bottom and twirls.
The knot.com describes the shape as a ball gown but is it more of a relaxed ballgown--not that big puffy shape you normally see. I say it is somewhere between a ballgown and mermaid. Much more forgiving to the shape than the mermaid style (more flowy) and has all drama of a ball gown but without being so puffy. It is strapless with a modified sweetheart neckline and the gown features a ruched wrap bodice and self sash.
All I can say is I've never had a dress that made me feel so tall, thin, and beautiful (even though I don't even feel that I'm currently at my best figure). It made me feel so stunning as is--it isn't one of those dresses that you have to feel like to have to work for to look that good. I knew immediately that it was the dress. . .it made me feel so bridal and really excited about the wedding.
Anyway, my measurements were: height, 5'8", hips 39, waist 28, and bust 35. I'm probably going to get cups sewn in and possibly a french bustle. After taxes, and altertations the dress is over $4000. I'm willing to part with it for $2800-$2500 or Best Offer. I'm also willing sell the 2 tiered elbow length ivory veil that I purchased from Priscilla of Boston as well--it has the corded edging that gives it a little more body for $100.
The sale will be final, so please feel free to ask any questions. I'll take paypal payments, money orders, or personal checks. Thank you
hi i might be very interested! we are literally the exact same size-height, measurements the whole thing!. My wedding is june 7, 2009 so i'm nervous that this might be cutting it a bit too close. where are you located? im in atlanta, ga.
Hello!! That is sooo funny that we have the same measurements. I'm holding my wedding at the Four Seasons in Philadelphia PA. I'm actually taking a week off before and after the wedding to recover and am NOT going on a honeymoon until later, so I will be taking my dress to Priscilla of Boston to get it cleaned immediately the day after the wedding. I don't believe it will take THAT long to clean if you are really worried I can even give them a call and see what the average time is usually. Plus, I can always ship it to you express, or even overnight. I know that the seamstress at Priscilla is really good and they said the alterations don't take that very long. I think as long as you have a good seamtress booked already and ask them the estimated time, you should be fine. However, if our measurements are very similiar the dress may even be fine as is. You can email me at: mjk1004@gmail.com if you have more questions. Good Luck MJ
Hi! I was just wondering if this dress is still available? I tried it on yesterday and fell in love! AND I think we have the same measurements. I am very interested!
