I bought 130 corks on ebay for $7.50, then used an exact-o knife to cut a slit. It was much more cost effective, especially if you need 100+. A lot of sellers had brand new corks without wine stains on them too.
The winery where we were married at on 8/8/08 provided us with corks for free...that way they had the name of the winery on them...They have so many from all of the wine tastings that they do. We then cut a little off of the bottom to keep them from rolling and then cut a slit in the top to hold the card.
I have some left over from my wedding which have already been cut and ready for cards to be inserted. They have the name of the winery where our wedding was held. I can send you a picture if you'd like. Just send me an email at tbwinson@yahoo.com.
Thanks for all the great recommendations! I'm going to see if the winery we are holding the wedding at will give/sell us some corks - love that idea!
I also came across a company that will do custom printing on corks at a reasonable cost. For anyone who's interested here's their email info: corkinfo@jelinek.com.
If you are still looking for the wine cork place card holders I found a company that sells them pretty cheap - it's www.corkeycreations.com. I just ordered some - can't wait to get them!
I'm looking for 100 cork placecard holders like the ones seen at the link below to use at my August 2009 wedding.
