My husband and I built this canopy for our recent wedding ceremony (last week!). The four bases are 4 large flower pots (18" square) (http://www.lowes.com/pd_110342-302-HD1810SD_0_?productId=3122039&Ntt=planter&Ntk=i_products&pl=1&currentURL=/pl__0__s?Ntk=i_products$rpp=30$No=270$Ntt=planter$identifier=). Each pot contains about 40 lbs. of Quickrete cement that supports a 2-foot-long hollow PVC pipe. The poles (hand-stained) are dowels for a closet. Without the finial, each pole is 8 feet tall. A decorative finial finishes the top of each pole. The poles slide securely into each PVC pipe.
To finish the canopy, we put small eye hooks at the top of each pole, then used ribbon to tie the eye hook to each of four corners of a piece of fabric. (Please note that the fabric is not included.) We placed tissue paper poms in each base to cover the cement and PVC pipe. (Please note that the tissue paper poms are not included.)
This canopy is perfect for any wedding ceremony where you want the front to be a focal point. Though made for a Jewish wedding and was rabbi-approved, it can also be used for a non-religious ceremony.
